7 Things You Should Paint Instead Of Replace

A fresh coat of paint can give a room a quick and inexpensive new look but did you know that there are other things in your home that you can perk up with a little paint? Make sure to pay special attention to prep first by cleaning, patching and sanding the area or item. Try one of these ideas in your home:

  1. Door, Drawer, and Cabinet Hardware: Spray paint can update those old brass locks and hinges to a more modern bronze or stainless look.
  2. Brick Fireplace: Changing the look of your old red brick fireplace can really transform a room. However, once you paint it it’s nearly impossible to return.
  3. Ceramic Tile: You may want to play it safe and avoid high traffic areas and high moisture areas. Good places to try are laundry room floors, backsplashes under cabinets and walls around bathtubs that aren’t used often.
  4. Wood Floors: Some wood floors are beyond refinishing so why not let paint give them a second life.
  5. Carpet: You can cover stains and revive carpet with upholstery paint, saving you hundreds of dollars and the hassle of replacing carpet.
  6. Vinyl Floors: Those old vinyl floors in the kitchen and laundry rooms can get a few more years before replacement with porch/floor primer and paint.
  7. Appliances: Use an indoor appliance paint to change the color and look of your appliances by adding two to three coats of spray paint for better appliance coverage.
