DIY Hallowen (What You Want To Know Wednesdays)

The haunting hour is quickly descending upon us! We are 6 days away from Halloween. Some people have been waiting all year for Halloween, and others just want to fast forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas. This may also be your first Halloween in your new home! For those of you who are excited for Halloween, grab your cauldron and simmer on some easy Halloween DIY ideas brought to us by the DIY Network.

Use coffee filters to create a garland – all you need is 150 coffee filters, string or twine, and a large sewing needle. For full instructions, click here.

Creating specimen jars is one of the easiest DIY projects that you can do. Simply fill an old glass jar with colored water and plastic insects, or animals. Create a tag to put on the jar and you’re all done!

Another easy DIY that includes glass jars is a terrarium. You can easily use twigs, plastic spiders, cotton balls ( to create ghosts, ) dirt, and water to create a spooky scene.  You will have an eerie decoration that looks like you spent hours crafting – when in reality you spent less than an hour on this treasure.

You can easily create the illusion of flying ghosts by blowing up a balloon and draping a sheer sheet over it. Hang the balloon in an area where the wind will catch it to give it movement, and make it that much creepier! Bonus tip: draw a face on the balloon to give your ghost more character.

Perhaps the easiest DIY on the list, creating a path of bloody footprints leading up to your front door. To create the footprints all you have to do is step in red paint ( barefoot ) and walk to your door step. Keep your paint with you in case you have to touch up your feet, and keep a towel at the front door for easy clean up… unless you want footprints leading into your house as well.
